The Galleria degli Uffizi is located in Florence and his home to a prestigious art collection. During the 1700’s the Medici family used many of the rooms to hold their prestigious and rather coveted art pieces. These galleries were used as the magistrate’s courts during that time. The entire gallery was comprised of 40 rooms and was home to many pieces by Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Caravaggio, and Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.
As you can see many of the artists ranged from different backgrounds and countries. Several of the artists were Flemish, German, Dutch, and French. The whole thing is beautiful to see. When you first step in you will notice the beautiful frescoes that cover the ceilings and corridors as well as Roman and 16th century sculptures.
The Vasari Corridor – which is right above the Ponte Vecchio – is a unique link in between the Palazzo Vecchio and the Pitti Palace. In the Galleria there are 700 paintings with many of them being self portraits.
