Rose Museum - New York City

If ever you visit New York City you must make sure to stop off at the Rose Museum in Carnegie Hall. The Rose Museum opened in 1991 as a part of the 100th anniversary to Carnegie Hall. It is located on the first tier level of the Hall and is home to exhibitions (that may vary during the year) and a collection of art taken from the archives of the Carnegie Hall.

It features some of the world’s most influential music and will explain the history that goes with it. It features signed photographs, musical quotes, and letters from various artists. There are more than 300 items that will take you back to the lectures and concerts of the famous people that have stood on stage at the Hall.

Also on view are materials related to notable tenants of the studios above the stage, including Leonard Bernstein and Marlon Brando. From the silver trowel with which Mrs. Andrew Carnegie laid the cornerstone in 1890, to batons of Toscanini and von Karajan, Benny Goodman’s clarinet, and an autographed program of the Beatles’ landmark 1964 concert at the Hall, the display suggests the changing tides of American musical and social history.”
